The NISPA 2025 calendar began with a virtual Fundraising Do’s and Don’ts in January. Each schools’ reps shared lots of events and experiences they’ve been doing at their respective schools. Examples include parent social events, Christmas market, galas, gently used uniforms sales, and even a “Dad Takes over the Campus Store Day”. There were warm discussions regarding volunteer numbers and overall how to get more parents involved. The members got to break up into smaller groups to discuss with different school reps.
Here are the questions we discussed:
- What are the most profitable FR events for your school that effectively make use of parent volunteers and their time?
- In terms of community building as well as FR, what are some events that have been successful with respect to both aspects?
- Successful events are dependant not only on committee members, but also the wider parent community, what are some of the ways that you have found helpful in engaging parents outside the PA?
